Overview
The Griffon is a small dog with definite terrier instincts, and an inflated sense of self worth. He is a square solid-looking dog with a large rounded head and a short face. The whiskers and beard of the rough-coated variety give the rough almost human expressions. The smooth-coated griffon looks a little less solid and his arrogant expression belies his loving and amiable disposition. A cobby well balanced, square little dog, giving appearance of measuring the same from withers to tail root as from withers to ground. Various breeds are mentioned as having been used to obtain the Griffon of today. He was originally the rodent catcher of the stables in Brussels and rode on the handsome cabs as the drivers' friend. Lifespan of a griffon is around ten to sixteen years and size is by weight 2.2 to 4.9 kg.

Temperament
The Griffon is very much what you make him. If you have children, the dog will enjoy there games and going for energetic walks. If you are older and your daily pursuits are more leisurely, the dog will grow up more sedate and become a close and loving friend. Griffons are very trainable and many Griffons have obedience and agility titles. They are also very lively and alert. The Griffon is a fun loving dog who likes to be by your side at all times, is intelligent and a real comrade capable holding his own. Compatibility with other pets is excellent

Feeding
Their owners generally make fussy feeders that way. Decide what you want the dog to eat and do not give in to pleading looks and do remember that he will NOT starve if he does not eat for a few days. A good small-sized dry food and either meat or even human meat/veggie scraps will be fine.
