MICROCHIPS - YOUR PETS GREATEST CHANCE OF BEING RETURNED HOME

ozpets
What is a Microchip
A microchip is your pet's permanent form of identification. The tiny chip (about the size of a small grain of rice) contains a unique identification number that is linked to your address and contact information on a national integrated registry.

Why is microchipping so Important?
Your pet's microchip is their link home to you. Even some of the most housebound pets can be stolen, escape or stray from their homes and become lost. Simple things like a gate blowing open, a visitor or tradesperson leaving a door or gate open, a passing child befriending them, can all lead to the sudden loss of your loved pet. Sadly, thousands of lost animals cannot be returned home because their owners cannot be located. Often the collar or tags are missing, unreadable or out of date, making it impossible to identify them if they do not have a microchip.

Please note: By law, all dogs also need to be registered with their local council and should carry an identification tag or collar. In certain States, this provision also applies to cats.

How is microchipping performed?
A microchip is simply and easily injected beneath the skin by your veterinarian - just like a vaccination. The process is completed in seconds, does not require an anaesthetic and the chip then stays with your pet for its lifetime. During this process, you will also be required to complete a Microchip Subscription Form that will contain your pet's microchip number and your address and contact information. This information is then forwarded and recorded with Central Animal Records a national registry accredited by Domestic Animal Registries Inc the registry watchdog.
