Help | Contact | Search CLUBS DIRECTORY NSW CAVY CLUB Established: 1969 Overview The NSW Cavy Club originated in 1969 as the Channel Seven Cavy Club. Wynne Eccen's Cavy Care series shown on Saturday morning in the "Uncle Monty" segment aroused such interest that the Channel Seven Cavy Club was formed, later to become the NSW Cavy Club when the series ended. Mrs McGrath of Greenacre wrote our original constitution and helped put the Club on its feet. Over the years it has grown from strength to strength holding shows in shopping complexes, members' gardens and in conjunction with Agricultural shows. It holds meetings when required, and has an annual general meeting. In addition, the NSW Cavy Club has an annual exhibition corner at the Farmyard Nursery at the Sydney Royal ...   Activities See competition cavies of many varieties shown and judged. Judging competition cavies commences at 10 am. Free entry into the hall. Breeds of exhibition cavy being shown may include: MARKED Himalayan (marked with points, like a Siamese cat); Dutch Dalmatian Abyssinian (rosettes all over body) SATIN (very shiny coats) SELF (all same colour) White Cream Buff Red Black CRESTED (Crest on forehead) TICKED (Agoutis in several colours; and Argentés) COARSE COAT Abyssinian Rex LONGHAIR Club members will be happy to answer questions about guinea pigs in general, the cavy (rhymes with navy) fancy, showing cavies, etc. There will also be baby and adult guinea pigs  both pets and pedigree - for sale, as well as cavy supplies. The Branch exists to organise shows and promote the fancy in the region. It was formed by some members living in Sydney metro area. We hold shows throughout the year averaging shows every 2 weeks.
