ANIMAL RESCUE

RABBIT RUN-AWAY ORPHANAGE
Established: 2009

Overview

Rabbit Run-Away Orphanage is a non-profit organisation and operates as an incorporated association.

The aims of Rabbit Run-Away Orphanage are:

(1) To provide for rabbits that are sick, unwanted, stray, or have
     been mistreated
     (a) appropriate short-term care
     (b) medical treatment
     (c) rehabilitation treatment
     (d) long-term re-homing solutions

(2) To educate the public on rabbit ownership and care

(3) To prevent unnecessary euthanasia of rabbits

(4) To discourage cruelty to rabbits.

Each year many bunnies are abandoned or surrendered to animal shelters. While the animal shelters do what they can, regulations restrict them to keeping just a small number of animals. The sad fact is that there are too many bunnies for the capacity of the shelters and many healthy, lovable and friendly bunnies are euthanised, many do not even reach their first year.

Bunny orphans come to Rabbit Run-Away Orphanage as overflows from animal sanctuaries such as the Australian Animal Protection Society , the Save a Dog Scheme, Animal Aid or as dumped and neglected rabbits. The number of orphan intakes varies throughout the year and the rabbits that come to us as orphans or special needs bunnies are successfully re-homed primarily through our Rabbit Run-devous bunny dating service offered at Rabbit Run-Away Orphanage.

Services

Adoption is ideal for those who would like to provide a loving home for one or more or our bunny orphans. All of our orphans are vaccinated, de-sexed, sociable, affectionate and gorgeous.

If you are considering a companion bunny for your existing rabbit a free bunny date can be organised at Rabbit Run-devous. Not all bunnies get along, so we offer a free bunny dating service to find the right companion bunny for your bunny

Rabbit Run-Away Orphanage provides education packages to pre-schools, schools groups, after school care and hospitals regarding responsible rabbit ownership and care.
